About
Magnús Thorlacius’ solo project, Myrkvi, started in 2020 and swiftly gained traction in the Icelandic indie scene. The debut single reached 2nd place on the national radio chart, and a well-received album soon followed. The sophomore album, released in 2023, was co-written with Yngvi Holm and built on the foundation of their old band, Vio. That’s where Magnús originally made a name for himself, winning the Icelandic Battle of the Bands and receiving a couple of nominations at the Icelandic Music Awards.
Myrkvi has begun releasing music from his third album, a personal journey of rediscovery with a unique sound. Myrkvi has also been gathering momentum and praise for live performances, featuring at SXSW and other prominent festivals recently. Myrkvi’s little helper and social media star is Stebbi the cat.
