Magnús Thorlacius’ solo project, Myrkvi, started in 2020 and swiftly gained traction in the Icelandic indie scene. The debut single reached 2nd place on the national radio chart, and a well-received album soon followed. The sophomore album, released in 2023, was co-written with Yngvi Holm and built on the foundation of their old band, Vio. That’s where Magnús originally made a name for himself, winning the Icelandic Battle of the Bands and receiving a couple of nominations at the Icelandic Music Awards.

Myrkvi has begun releasing music from his third album, a personal journey of rediscovery with a unique sound. Myrkvi’s little helper and social media star is Stebbi the cat.
